Save Money & Increase The Comfort & IAQ Levels Of Your Home & Office With Aeroseal

When you come home at the end of a long day, you should be coming home to a comfortable and healthy space. But many homeowners come home to a house that’s uneven in temperature, excessively dusty (no matter how often they clean), and uncomfortably humid. While this can make for an uncomfortable home and more problems with allergies, many of us have simply accepted this as “just the way this old (or new) house is.” But the reality is, these issues are oftentimes caused by leaks in air ducts.

Leaky air ducts can pull in dust, mold, moisture, and other irritants from within walls, attics, basements, and crawlspaces, and introduce them to your air supply, making allergies and respiratory illnesses worse. They can also cause conditioned and heated air to leak out into walls, attics, and other spaces, instead of evenly pumping into the rooms in your home.

But what if it didn’t have to be this way? What if you could increase the comfort levels in your home, even out room temperatures, decrease humidity and dust, and save money on utilities? With Aeroseal, you can.

What Is Aeroseal & What Makes It The Best Leaky Air Duct Solution Available?

Aeroseal is a system that addresses leaky air ducts by sealing leaks with polymer particles. Traditionally, the process of repairing and sealing leaks within air ducts involved a lot of labor and a lot of mess. Technicians had to first investigate and locate leaks, which oftentimes involved demolition and hours of paid time. Once leaks were located, mastic (similar to caulk) or tape (both susceptible to deterioration and break down) was used to seal duct leaks. A lot of time, money, mess, and work for a brief relief. Aeroseal is different.

With Aeroseal, we’re able to quickly locate and seal duct leaks, both seen and out of sight (behind walls, in attics and crawl spaces, etc.), without demo or mess. This system ensures a complete seal of leaks, long-term. In fact, Aeroseal is backed by a 10 year warranty! With Aeroseal, you’ll:

  • save money by reducing conditioned and heated air loss and waste (government reports show savings up to $850/yr).
  • enjoy more comfortable, more consistent temperatures in every room in your home.
  • enjoy cleaner, healthier air and a less humid, less dusty home.
  • enjoy a longer-lasting, healthier HVAC system.

How Do I Know If I Have A Leak In My Ducts?

Here are some tell-tale signs that you may have leaks in your air ducts:

  • uneven temperature distribution/hot or cold rooms
  • excessive humidity or dust in your home
  • lingering musty odors
  • high utilities/energy bills
  • little/no air exiting your air registers
  • a constantly running HVAC system

How Does Aeroseal Work?

So how are we able to seal leaks without demo or mess? Our technicians start by covering all wall registers in your home with foam, and sealing off the furnace and fan with a temporary foam plug. We then test the system for leaks and calculate air loss by forcing air into the system. Next, we inject the Aeroseal sealant into the ducts. These particles are kept suspended inside the ducts through the air stream our techs push into the ducts (so you don’t have to worry about your air ducts being coated by the sealant). Air will naturally try to exit through the leaks in the system (the only open areas since all wall registers are sealed off), and as it does, the sealant particles in the air adhere to, fill, and seal the leaks. All in all, the process takes about an hour.

How do we know the process worked? We perform a computer-generated analysis of your home’s leaks before and after the Aeroseal process.Throughout the process, we get computer-generated, real-time results so we can actually watch the sealant working. At the end of the service, we’ll provide you with a print out of your results.

What If I Have Disconnected Ducts Or A Leak That’s Too Big To Seal With Aeroseal?

If we find disconnected ducts or very large leaks, we’ll need to take care of those issues before continuing with the Aeroseal process. But don’t worry — we’ll discuss a solution with you before moving forward.

Is Aeroseal Safe For Me, My Family, And My Pets?

Yes, Aeroseal is non-toxic and safe — in fact, it’s been used in hospitals and surgery centers! Very low VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are produced by the sealant, and, although there is a slight glue-like odor produced, it doesn’t last longer than a few hours. Those of us here at Atlas Chimney would never compromise our customers’ safety, health, and comfort, so just to be safe, we do prefer that no one be in the house during the process, especially if pregnant or elderly.

As far as your property goes, there’s no demo work involved, no mess, and we’ll protect any sensitive electronics or art pieces in your home.

Should I Have My Air Ducts Cleaned Before Or After The Aeroseal Process?

It’s safe to have your air ducts cleaned both before and after the Aeroseal process, but it’s certainly not necessary unless the ducts are very dirty. Our technicians will evaluate your air ducts and if we think a cleaning is needed, we’ll recommend one.

Does Aeroseal Work In Commercial Spaces As Well?

Homeowners aren’t the only ones that can benefit from Aeroseal, which is why we’re proud to offer Aeroseal services to commercial properties throughout Central Texas as well. Is your commercial building filled with complaints of excessive heat or cold? Does it seem that someone in your company is always sick? Leaks in your ductwork could be to blame.

Think about it: Your employees can’t do their best work if they’re uncomfortable, and the more allergens and dust in their air supply, the more sick days they’re likely to have. But the productivity and health of your workers aren’t the only things impacted by leaky air ducts. Leaks can also double the fan energy expended to heat or cool your space, which directly impacts your wallet and the service life of your HVAC system. Keeping a business up and running is expensive, don’t let your money go to waste because of a leaky duct system. Decrease your utilities and increase your team’s satisfaction, comfort, health, and productivity with Aeroseal.
